01 – a portrait of reco
1962

In the sixties, Wilhelm Egger owned a small camionnage and transported groceries. On the return trips, the van was always empty, which prompted him to take packaging waste such as old cardboard with him. He used an old hay baler to process this waste into bales, which he sold to cardboard factories. In this way, he laid the foundations for a prosperous waste disposal and recycling company.
1971

Before long, he was not only collecting old cardboard, but also textiles, paper and scrap metal. Son-in-law Erwin Tonner joined the company and the business grew rapidly. The depot and machinery had to be constantly expanded to meet the growing demands.
1986

In the 80s, the company experienced further growth, characterized by new ideas and a constant expansion of the waste disposal range. The product range was expanded to include hazardous waste and plastics, which led to an even broader market presence.
1993

In the 90s, the third generation joined the company. Markus and Andreas Tonner took responsibility for the diversification of the company and led it to a further growth spurt. The portfolio was further expanded and the company consolidated its position on the market.
2008

The first decade of the new millennium was characterized by changes of ownership, mergers, spin-offs and start-ups. However, Andreas Tonner recognized a certain saturation in the waste disposal market. New ideas were sought, and so Recycling Coach was founded in 2008. It started out as a consulting company in the recycling sector and was quickly well received. The shopping basket analysis and material cost optimization in particular met with a great response.
2014

In 2014, Adrian Tonner joined the company as the fourth generation and drove the further development of Recycling Coach and Oekotech reco. The company continued to grow and established itself as a leading provider in the field of recycling consulting.
2025

In 2025, the company headquarters moved from Wienacht AR to Thal SG. At the same time, the two companies Oekotech reco and Recycling Coach merged in order to strengthen their market position and pool their resources even more efficiently.
